Hydra Island

Hydra Island

The island of Hydra is one of the most remarkable islands in the Saronic Gulf, perhaps the most attractive port and village in Greece. Situated in the Saronic Gulf and very close to the Greek capital, Athens, Hydra is always a favored choice as a holiday destination during the summer season.

The main town is built on the outskirts of a hill overlooking the port and amazes visitors with elegant stone mansions and beautiful colors. One of the characteristics and attractions of the island is that no cars or scooters are allowed. Instead, getting around the island is done by donkeys, horses, and water taxis, which can be found at the port. The donkeys are a representative symbol of Hydra. The beaches are tiny coves with crystal clear water and lush green landscapes here. Agios Nikolaos, Bitsi, Vlichos, and Kaminia are the most stunning beaches on the island, providing amazing spots under the hot Greek sun.

Our boat will stop here for 2 hours while you enjoy the beautiful city center with its shops, visit the Historical Archive Museum of Hydra, ride the donkey through the village or take a water taxi to the island’s beaches.

Hydra Island

Spilia beach

Close to the harbor, Spilia is a lovely rocky area with deep shimmering turquoise water and a perfect place for diving. Also, rocks on this beach can be comfortably used for tanning and relaxing due to their shape size.

Hydronetta

This beach is located under the cannons and on the rocks, making it very beautiful and great to deep dive or relax on the hot stones.

Avlaki

This small beach is fantastic at nighttime as it offers a unique natural light show due to minerals in the pebbles that glow when it is pitch black. Blue-green water will wait for you to take a swim into it.

The beaches mentioned above are nearby, accessible by foot, with the port only a few minutes away.

Kaminia

Kaminia is a small pebble beach, ideal for families with children. It is also perfect for water games, located near a small natural port that is always full of fishing boats.

Agios Nikolaos

On the southwest part of Hydra island, located 30min ride by boat taxis from the port and hidden inside a cave, the beach is safely protected from the weather and sea currents. Blue waters, thin pebbles, and fine sand await you here.

Vlichos beach

Vlichos is a small pebble beach with crystal clear waters. The beach is tranquil and can be reached within a 40-minute walk from the harbor or a taxi boat.
